I followed your blog PanAm Notes from the beginning, and remember you talking about how you wanted a sportsmobile, but went with the truck camper for financial reasons. So my question is, now that you have traveled the Panam hwy with your truck camper what would you recommend for a newbie over lander? I have found several sports mobiles for under 30k. 80,000-100,000 miles. Would you go back to your TC or would you go for the sportsmobile to live in for a year on the rod? Thanks for any advice you can give 🙂
Now that we’re home and finished with the PanAm we can honestly say we’d do it all over again with the truck camper. And since your travels are in North America, it’s ideal. Sportsmobile’s are certainly attractive but are probably not the most practical option. Good luck! And please send us your blog if you have one!
thanks so much! We are going to start a blog soon, and will be thrilled to send it to you. Can you tell me just one or two reasons why you think the sportsmobile is not practical? I read so many post about people raving over sportsmobile over the truck camper. But my gut was saying otherwise. And I thought, ‘ya know, why not ask someone who I know would have the answer” that was you guys of course 🙂 I know you guys are super busy! Love your new blog too!
Pleased to see you still have Africa on the brain!!
Hi. We are about to purchase a truck to go with our Hallmark Milner camper and was hoping you guys could give us some insight into the weight issue. we are looking at a 2014 Toyota Tundra with a 1500 payload but the camper, fluids, us and our crap will take us over 2600. How heavy was your rig and how did it work out? What modifications did you make on the truck? Any info would be hugely appreciated. thanks, Paula and John
I love, love loooooove your new homepage! I will follow your adventures – from Africa 😉
Thanks Andrea! We’ve still got Africa on the brain and we so enjoy seeing all that you two discover. Buen viaje amiga!
